Library Link of the Day would not exist without the resources listed on this page. There are hundreds of library and information science news sites out there. Below are some of the sites I use to stay informed about the profession.
For more links and further information about maintaining current awareness in librarianship, see Steven Bell's Keeping Up Page, a categorized and annotated list of information sources useful for librarians' professional development. The LIS Weblogs category at the Open Directory Project has more listings if you're interested in exploring more sites, as does the Weblogs article at LISWiki.
Many of the links below include an RSS feed. RSS stands for Resource Description Framework (RDF) Site Summary. It is an increasingly popular Extensible Markup Language (XML) format for distributing online news headlines. You can use an RSS news reader software program to read and browse headlines from these sites more efficiently than surfing the Web. (If you remember scanning USENET posts on a VAX terminal, the interface may even look familiar!)
For more information on RSS, see the "RSS Resources" section at LISFeeds.com, a Web-based RSS headline aggregator of many of the more popular library Weblogs.
